Puneet Ahluwalia (R-McLean), the centrist Republican nominee for Dranesville Supervisor in Fairfax County announced today that his campaign has purchased streaming television advertising.
In making the announcement, Puneet said, “I’m humbled by the generosity of dozens of donors to our campaign; and by the fact that literally thousands of people have rallied to our message of positive change and thoughtful centrism.”
Eight of ten supervisors angered many voters earlier this year when they gave themselves a nearly 30% pay raise and the use of county-funded vehicles.
Puneet continued, “These are the same supervisors who endorse my opponent, so for those who like the way things are going in Fairfax County, he’s a great candidate. I will be different.”
“I believe Fairfax County has a lot of problems,” Puneet said. “Taxes are up, teachers are leaving, nearly 300 vacancies exist on the police force, poor planning has caused traffic and congestion, and county supervisors voted themselves a $2,500 monthly pay raise.”
Puneet outlined his campaign’s platform saying, “I’ll work to eliminate the supervisor’s pay raise, fill the vacant positions on our police force, hold schools accountable for raising standards, and advocate for a new law that limits real estate tax increases to the median increase in household incomes.”
Puneet reported that, “Real estate taxes currently are going up at 3 times the rate of household income.”
Puneet also said, “I’m especially excited about the prospect of turning Fairfax County into the Cyber Security and AI capital of the United States. Our proximity to Washington, the Pentagon, and the nation’s security establishment make this a very real and very prosperous opportunity for our people.”
Puneet said he and his wife, Nadia, decided to enter the campaign for supervisor because, “we started seeing here what we saw too often in the countries we left, politicians who were out of touch and out for themselves. We want to help bring a change.”
The Dranesville Supervisor’s District includes the communities of Herndon, McLain, Great Falls and portions of Vienna and Falls Church.
